Kristin is a recognized transformational merchandising leader with proven success in developing and implementing effective strategies across diverse businesses and operational challenges at retail. She is known for developing high performing teams, and breaking industry norms to drive significant results. Kristin has demonstrated skill in leading P&L omni-channel operations domestically and internationally. She has boardroom experience for both private and public companies. Kristin Shane joined PetSmart as SVP and Chief Merchandising Officer in August 2019. Since she’s been at PetSmart, she has transformed the business adding millions of new customers and billions in incremental sales. She began her career with Accenture before deciding to serve in the Peace Corps in El Salvador. Upon her return, she joined Target as a senior buyer and progressed through several roles to become Vice President Merchandise Manager, Beauty and Personal Care a $6B Signature business for Target. She made her mark in the beauty industry receiving the WWD Best Beauty Retailer Award because of her success in driving huge market share gains and successfully launching numerous new brands making Target a huge brand builder in the space. After more than a decade in leadership roles for Target, Kristin founded and led two independent business ventures, one focused on retail and brand consulting in the beauty and personal care space, and the other creating an innovative fitness concept and operating two fitness studios. Kristin is actively involved in the community, serving as a board member for several non-profit organizations. She earned a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in journalism from Indiana University. She and her husband Ben live in Scottsdale with their three kids Dylan, Sydney and Austin, their French Bulldog, Archie and their energetic Vizsla, Ruby.
