Jake Kalick, Co-Founder and President of Austin-based cookware darling Made In, was initially drawn to the industry after spending his childhood years in the 88-year old family business of Harbour Food Service (a full-service hospitality design and supply company). After being immersed in the hospitality industry his whole life, he held his first job at Avero, a restaurant analytics and consulting firm. Fast forward to 2017 when Kalick and his longtime best friend and business partner, Chip Malt, had a pivotal moment and decided to combine their expertise in business and hospitality to change the cookware industry. Enter Made In, quality chef-grade kitchen tools and cookware accessible home cooks. Kalick spent years studying and understanding the intricacies of restaurant kitchens, from the knife handles and cast iron pans, to the stemware and tablescapes they used. Chip and Jake’s shared passion for premium cookware led the duo to travel the world going everywhere from rural Tennessee, to the picturesque French countryside in search of the world’s most talented artisans to craft their products. Now, Made In products are relied upon by some of the country’s most notable restaurants, purchased by top-tier chefs, and can be found in Michelin-star restaurants Alinea, Le Bernardin, Osteria Mozza, as well as Fairmont Hotels, Wynn Casinos, and many more. Their nimble direct-to-consumer (DTC) model allows Made In to provide the most enjoyable and high-quality experience to consumers and chefs alike.
