Matthew Boyle is a senior reporter for Bloomberg News in New York, covering the U.S. retail scene and its leading companies -- among them Walmart, Target, Best Buy and Costco. He was previously the London-based leader of Bloomberg's European consumer team, managing a group of reporters and editors across Europe and Africa. The beat spanned from AB InBev to Zara and included all of the major food, beverage, luxury, fashion and retail companies in the region. Earlier, he was a reporter on that team. He previously wrote for BusinessWeek magazine and for Fortune, and began his journalism career in the heady days of the dot-com era.
